I have always been fascinated by the environment in which I live. Being a born and bred Londoner - I have also lived and worked in New York - urban themes tend to dominate my work. Yet I am not trying to illustrate simply what is in front of me. I want my paintings to speak for themselves as images and to construct a dialogue in paint across a flat surface.

More recently I have concentrated on the small green enclaves, abandoned parks and patches of waste ground which exist in London . In these urban landscapes I aim to penetrate the hidden spaces between tower blocks, terraced housing and busy roads which form the matrix of our city
