Inspiration
Travelling through Southern India, Nepal and Morocco has inspired much of my works ~ the fascinating cultures, varying seasons & vibrant colours, create stunning patterns to draw inspiration from . I am inspired largely from nature and my surroundings, my love of the sea and beaches, landscapes and sunsets focusing on colour, light and horizons.
Technique
I paint mainly with oils mixed with lots of linseed oil & scumble glaze. A layering effect is applied to each painting scraping off sections and re-applying, slowly building up layers of colour. I try to acquire a sense of depth and atmosphere through constantly re-working my paintings.
My main themes are Atmospheric abstract Landscapes / Seascapes, Moroccan Architecture and other abstract paintings derived from my travels. My Moroccan paintings are very textural paintings. The lengthy process involves layers of decoupage, script, gold leaf and paint with the final layer incorporating gesso and acrylics to create further depth .
